Ap\u00f3s ser anunciada no final de 2017, a Educa\u00e7\u00e3o a Dist\u00e2ncia (EAD) da Univates iniciou as aulas em 2018. Nesse per\u00edodo, a modalidade cresceu n\u00e3o apenas em rela\u00e7\u00e3o ao n\u00famero de alunos, mas tamb\u00e9m na estrutura oferecida. Em rela\u00e7\u00e3o ao n\u00famero de estudantes, a modalidade EAD registrou expans\u00e3o de 56% se forem comparados os n\u00fameros de matr\u00edculas no m\u00f3dulo 1 de 2018, realizado entre fevereiro e abril, e no m\u00f3dulo 4, com atividades entre os meses de outubro e dezembro deste ano.

De acordo com o vice-reitor e diretor de educa\u00e7\u00e3o a dist\u00e2ncia da Univates, Carlos C\u00e2ndido da Silva Cyrne, o aumento na procura foi al\u00e9m do esperado quando os cursos nessa modalidade foram lan\u00e7ados. \u201cEmbora os n\u00fameros acompanhem a tend\u00eancia nacional, em que um em cada cinco estudantes matriculados no ensino superior \u00e9 aluno de cursos a dist\u00e2ncia, tendo em vista ser uma oferta nova para a Univates, os resultados superaram nossas expectativas\u201d. De acordo com o Censo do Ensino Superior, as matr\u00edculas em EAD cresceram 17,6% de 2016 para 2017. \u201cNo \u00faltimo ano, nosso aumento foi significativamente maior do que a m\u00e9dia nacional\u201d, afirma ele.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O n\u00famero de cursos oferecidos tamb\u00e9m aumentou durante o ano. Dos 13 cursos inicialmente oferecidos, atualmente s\u00e3o 16 cursos superiores, entre tecnologia, bacharelados e licenciaturas. De acordo com Cyrne, a expans\u00e3o no n\u00famero de cursos tem sido planejada levando em conta os que possuem potencial para formar novas turmas, as estruturas necess\u00e1rias nos polos, entre outros fatores. \u201cPrecisamos destacar que os conte\u00fados s\u00e3o produzidos por professores da Univates que tamb\u00e9m atuam nos cursos presenciais e que t\u00eam s\u00f3lida forma\u00e7\u00e3o acad\u00eamica e identifica\u00e7\u00e3o com a cultura da Institui\u00e7\u00e3o, o que nos traz tranquilidade de que a qualidade dos cursos presenciais estar\u00e1 presente na modalidade EAD\u201d, explica.

Cyrne destaca ainda que apesar de a modalidade ter ganhado impulso no \u00faltimo ano, o primeiro curso EAD da Univates teve in\u00edcio em 2015 e recentemente foi muito bem avaliado pelo Minist\u00e9rio da Educa\u00e7\u00e3o (MEC), alcan\u00e7ando nota 4<\/a> em uma escala de 1 a 5.

De janeiro a dezembro de 2018, houve aumento de 13 polos, estando a Univates presente atualmente nos munic\u00edpios de Arroio do Meio<\/a>, Arvorezinha<\/a>, Bom Retiro do Sul<\/a>, Carlos Barbosa<\/a>, Garibaldi<\/a>, Guapor\u00e9<\/a>, Encantado<\/a>, Estrela<\/a>, Lajeado, Montenegro<\/a>, Serafina Corr\u00eaa, Soledade, Taquari<\/a>, Teut\u00f4nia<\/a>, Triunfo<\/a>, Veran\u00f3polis<\/a> e Ven\u00e2ncio Aires.
